Bridge of Hope Children’s Ministry is a Christian charity founded in the UK in 2008 by Geoff & Barbara Skerratt. We support children in the district of Rukungiri, South West Uganda who are orphaned, abandoned or living in extreme poverty.
We believe that God has called us to serve those living in extreme poverty regardless of religious or social background.
In the UK the Trustees, Advocates and Volunteers of Bridge of Hope Children’s Ministry all give their time voluntarily and are dedicated to supporting the work of the charity. This enables us to keep all administration costs to a minimum and we can use our incoming resources to benefit the children in Uganda.
In Uganda Bridge of Hope Children’s Ministry is employing over thirty people including a manager, two field workers, cleaners, cooks, teachers, house mothers and aunts to care for the children. We are also able to give trainee teachers work experience at the Bridge of Hope School. This enables them to complete their courses and receive their qualification.
We are increasingly seeing the great impact that regular employment has on a person’s ability to care for their family. Other opportunities for work become available to builders, carpenters and the water engineer and are employed as needed. People not only receive a wage they gain dignity and self-reliance and are better able to provide for their families.
Bridge of Hope Children’s Ministry is committed to transforming and empowering the lives of children and families affected by poverty.
